Welcome to the website of the Pain and Physical Activity Lab located in the Department of Kinesiology at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Our research is focused on the impact of physical activity behavior and exercise as a therapeutic and preventative strategy for pain related conditions. The lab also uses quantitative sensory testing to understand central and peripheral mechanisms underlying the transition from acute to chronic pain. Studies in the lab have been funded by the Department of Defense, Indiana State Department of Health, and IUPUI. Details about the lab and specific projects can be found in the separate tabs above.
